CD PROGRAM ANALIZES

I. Vocabulary     ( CD – 1 )

  1. Interactivity

Based on the interactivity, the program on this CD has been designed interactively and effectively. The program is so interactive, because it performs atractive games that give a challenge to the students. The students who are playing the games will do hard to finish the games and get a better score. In other word, they will feel unsatisfied if they dont finish the games from level by level. Furthermore, the students will always enjoy the games because the program gives prompt nad feedback directly.

 

2.Usability ( flexibility )

    After the students finish doing the tasks level by level, they can check the scores , so they will know whether they do right or wrong, and the students also know what words they have mastered and what words they haven,t known yet.

     

    3. Content appropriateness

     

      The vocabulary contents performed in this program are appropriate to the  themes and students’ level. This program also gives easy games that are appropriate to the beginner students, so the students will not feel bored caused by the easiness of the content, and they will not feel frustation caused by the content difficulty.

       

      4. Effectiveness

       

        This program performs a game that use kinds of color symbols to guide the students’ tasks. The usage of color symbols in this program is not so effective beacuse it lead the students trend to conern more finding the color symbols than the meaning of the words. It should be better using the real pictures related to the words such as places or equipments.

         

        5. Performance

         

          The performance of this program has been designed well. The performance has used hypermedia standart includes ; interesting color of text, pictures, sounds, music etc.

           

           

          II. English words ( CD 2 )


          1. Interactivity

          Discussing about the interactivity,  the program of the CD is talking about English words. It can make an interactive situation  to the user/the student.  The student can answer the questions through playing game, and he/she can get the feedback of his/her answer directly.

          2. Usability ( flexibility )

          The program of this CD is flexible, interesting, and easy to operate by  the beginners, although it doesn,t give any clear instructions. To guide the students more familarly with the English instruction, it would be better giving instructions in English.

          3. Content appropriateness

          The content of the words performed in this program are appropriate to the  themes and students’ level ( for kindergatten students ). The program is only set for the listening and speaking  practicees, It would be better to set practices that train the students do writing and reading.

          4. Effectiveness

          The program on this CD is effective because it is completed with directly response, so they can see the points which are true or which ones that are false. At the end of a level of this program, it has been also completed the scores, so the students may determine whther they should go to the next level or not.

          5. Performance

          Using real pictures and good pronunciacion is an attractive progam to practice the words especially for the beginners. By listening the pronounciation, observing the pictures and practicing through the tasks, the students will more easily memorize the words they learn.

          III. Talk Now ,learn English ( CD 3 )

          1. Interactivity

          This program consists of  some activities especially listening practice and speaking practice that can help the beginner levels and young learners enjoy learning. There are many activities which involve the learners actively, and the instructions are easy to understand. On the game program it has been designed well completed with directly resposes whether the students correctly or not, and they can also know the score they get.

          2. Usability (flexibility)

          This program is easy to run and understand. Although  it does not use completely   and clearly instruction, the students can do the tasks easily. This program utilize appropriate symblos of instructions that can be learned easily .

          3. Content and appropriateness

          This program gives the students various topics and developes appropriate materials related to the topics. The materials such as words, phrases, sentences or expressions are relevant to the topics because they are often found in our daily communication. The students who usually get some troubles in expressing a certain utterence when they are talking in their live communication will feel eager to find something new that they need before.

          4. Effectiveness

          The program on this CD is effective because it is completed with directly response, so they can see the points which are true or which ones that are false. At the end of a level of this program, it has been also completed the scores, so the students may determine whther they should go to the next level or not. For the recording program, the students can try to pronounce words or sentences through recording themselves and they are also able to replay the sounds that they have recorded.

          5. Performance (attractiveness)

          This program has been completed with the real pictures and situation, so the students can easily build their opinion related to the situation. Besides it performs good pronunciation, it is also completed with the texts that can guide the students if they are lack behind or they don’t understand a certain expression.

          IV.  Speak English, Talk more ( CD 4 )

          1. Interactivity

          The interactivity of the students in this program is focused on the listening program and pronounciaation practices. It does not give a chance for the students to practice speaking directly ; ask something or answer questions provided in the dialoque  progam.

          2.  Usability (flexibility)

          For the listening program, it is too easy for the intermediate students because they should listen the way to pronounce the words or expressions. For the recording program, the students should imitate the models and they can replay their recording afterwards, but it does not give an occasion to the students practicing to record themselves.

          3.Content and appropriateness

          This program has many situational topics that can be chosen by the students to learn. The materials served in each topic are well and appropriate to the intermediate students. The content of materials are easy to aunderstand because they are completed with relevant pictures.

          4. Effectiveness

          For the game program, it has been completed with directly responses, so the students can easily learn  which points are true or which ones are false. At the end of a level of this program, it has been also completed the scores, so the students may determine whther they should go to the next level or not.

          5. Performance (attractiveness)

          The models ( the actor and the actress ) are not suitable to the young learners and intermediate levels, because they are addult. The actor and the actress do not play the roles consitently in their conversation; at one scene the actor plays as a receptionist and on the other part he plays as a customer of a hotel. On the dialoque program, it does not perform a real dialoque in a real situation, such as ; in the bank, in the mall, in the restaurant and in the hotel.
